One of their most successful programs is a mentorship program that matches successful business people with new business owners to help them get started off on the right track to success. The National Minority Business Council is committed to more minority business owners becoming even more successful and allowing all Americans to participate fully in the growth and prosperity of our national economy. Another source of assistance to minority led businesses is the Minority Business Development Agency. This federal government agency provides support and assistance to minority businesses by focusing on the key elements of training, technology, and of course business financing. Although the Minority Business Development Agency does not have funding of its own to provide for business loans for minorities it does have an extensive referral service that can help minority businesses follow up on grants and loans from other agencies of government. It also helps minority owned businesses get registered to be able to compete in the lucrative government contracts market. Banks and other lending institutions are being encouraged by all levels of government to open their access to funding for business loans for minorities. This means that at least many of them are open to listen. A minority business owner who is seeking financing should be well prepared and have a solid business plan to present to the bank in seeking business loans for minorities.
